While the rookie tournament did not end the way Leafs fans were hoping, it was a success for the Leafs brass. The young buds finished the round-robin 2-0-1 with their only loss coming last night against the Senators squad in overtime.

Stand-outs up front included Mitchell Heard, who finished with 1 goal and 3 assists, and Greg McKegg, who tallied two goals and two assists and showed great signs of speed and playmaking ability. Jake Gardiner showed strong break-out abilities, but struggled at times, and Jesse Blacker was an opportunist who jumped at each chance for an offensive rush. While it is clear these two blue-liners will certainly be NHL quality defencemen, it proves to be a growing process as they require more development in the AHL - something fans should not be worried about as it is more to round out their game and styles.

Mitchell Heard's performance earned him a try-out at the Maple Leafs camp which will feature a total of 64 skaters and 6 goaltenders.

The following is the list of attendees and the number beside their name corresponds to the expected jersey number, as listed by mapleleafs.com.
